.co.no is opening the registration possibilities of a Norwegian domain name to parties that can't
at the moment, including:
- Private person in Norway
- Companies without an entity in Norway
- Norwegian companies that already have registered 20 .no domains.
This means that .co.no gives your customers the opportunity to register their own Norwegian domain in
their own (Company) Name and Ownership, instead of having to use some Norwegian firm that acts as local presence
.co.no launch starts from 1st November 2010, involving a multi-phase plan to ensure for the stable
and orderly distribution of domains. The Launch has three core stages:
-
Sunrise 1st November 2010 - 31st January 2011:
In Sunrise phase, Between 1st November 2010 to
31st January 2011, any trademark -
obtained with a registered status on or before 1st January 2010 - may apply for a .co.no domain.
These trademarks need to be registered in a trademark office or registry that corresponds to a
state or entity described in the WIPO Standard ST.3 code. This allows companies to apply for
their desired domain or domains and secure their trademarks. Only the first validated application
is allocated to the .co.no domain. The applied domain name should be EXACT MATCH to Trademark.
-
General Availability 22nd February 2011:

.co.no domains will be available to the public based on the chronological order of registrations
on a first come, first served basis.
